Detect methane leaks at an early stage - with the Honeywell Versatilis™ Signal Scout™

Efficient methane detection with the new Versatilis™ Signal Scout™ from Honeywell - now in the A. Hock GmbH product range. Find out more!

More topical than ever: curbing methane emissions in industry. At the end of 2023, the European Parliament and the EU member states set stricter requirements for the measurement and reporting of methane emissions in energy-intensive industries.

The aim is to increase transparency and achieve the EU's climate targets more quickly.

The Honeywell Versatilis™ Signal Scout™ is an advanced monitoring tool that has been developed to effectively fulfil these new requirements. The methane sensor is now also available in the A. Hock programme and sharpens the product portfolio in the area of condition monitoring.

Why methane monitoring is so important

Methane emissions are responsible for a quarter of today's global warming.1 No wonder, as methane has a warming potential 25 times greater than carbon dioxide. The problem is that industry in particular still uses very outdated emission monitoring systems that barely recognise leaks and losses.

By controlling and reducing emissions in industry, companies are helping to reduce their environmental impact. And there are many other factors that make methane gas monitoring essential:

  • Improving operational safety: Methane is highly flammable. Controlling methane emissions in industrial plants helps to increase workplace safety by reducing the risk of explosions and fires.
  • Energy efficiency and cost savings: Detecting and repairing methane leaks prevents valuable resources from escaping unused into the atmosphere. This improves energy efficiency and reduces the cost of raw materials.
  • Compliance with regulations: Methane monitoring helps companies fulfil legal requirements and avoid potential penalties.

The advantages and functions of the sensor

The Honeywell Versatilis™ Signal Scout™ brings numerous benefits and features that are ideal for use in a wide range of industries, including the oil and gas supply chain and security applications:

  • Robust and safe: The methane detector is robustly constructed, intrinsically safe and resistant to poisoning by other gases.
  • Environmental compensation and self-test: The built-in environmental compensation and self-test functions ensure that the Signal Scout™ operates accurately even under difficult environmental conditions.
  • Methane gas detection: The detector uses molecular property spectrometer technology to detect methane quickly and sensitively.
  • LoRaWAN® protocol: The latest LoRaWAN® communication technology makes the sensor ideal for use in large areas (LoRa Alliance®).
  • Measurement parameters: It can measure concentrations from 50 ppm up to 1,000,000 ppm methane as well as temperature, humidity and pressure.

Matching: LoRaWAN easybox from A. Hock

The easybox in combination with the Honeywell Versatilis™ Signal Scout™ contributes to efficient monitoring and safety in critical industrial areas.
